Rebecca Rea

Rebecca Rea is a nonprofit fundraiser and database administrator based in St. Louis, Missouri. She is the NBA’s Development Associate assisting with data entry and fundraising. She earned her Master’s degree in History from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and has thirteen years of experience working for nonprofits.

Rea is heavily involved in advocacy and is currently the local organizational lead for a national gun safety movement with the intent to keep our children safe in schools and other public spaces. Most recently, she organized a local march of over 1,000 concerned citizens and gun violence survivor speakers. This was a nationwide event that occurred in hundreds of cities across the country. This movement helped inspire the recent passing of the Bi-Partisan Safer Communities Act which addresses gun violence in our communities. She is also the organizer of a parent and child support group focusing on mental health in her community and hopes to eventually grow this support group into surrounding areas. 

Getting to Know Rebecca

Why do you feel “called to care” about Disciples health and social service ministry?

I feel called to care because I firmly believe we need to “be the change you wish to see in the world.” Working at the NBA helps me accomplish just that. I have always been passionate about helping others, and that is why the NBA is the perfect organization for me.

Who is a hero of yours, and why?

There are so many, but I am truly inspired by the Indigenous women at the Standing Rock Reservation in North and South Dakota that protested the pipeline protecting their sacred land and the environment.

If I tried to find you in a supermarket, what aisle would you be in?

Definitely the snack isle and the pet aisle. I have two growing, always hungry boys, and we foster pets for our local animal shelter, so there is always a need for kids’ snacks and pet supplies!
