McCarty Memorial Christian Church has made its home in the West Adams neighborhood of South Los Angeles for nearly 90 years. In the early 1950s, McCarty was the first church to integrate and become a multiracial congregation. Decades of powerful social activism followed as the church was one of the epicenters of the civil rights movement in Los Angeles. The church site has been a voice for radical transformation and prophetic witness for Rev. Dr. William Barber, the Poor People’s Campaign and the Black Lives Matter movement.

McCarty seeks to embody the love of Jesus by building a movement of wholeness, connecting our community, and advocating for social justice.
