Ms. Suzanne Quenette

I am a second-generation Disciple of Christ, the daughter of a Disciples minister and wife who devoted themselves to ministry, both as a congregational ministry team and as an administrator and support staff working for the NBA in the 1970s. I think I have the distinction of being the youngest resident (at age 11) to live at an NBA senior living facility.

I now live in Austin, TX, with my husband. We are fairly recent “empty nesters” who now share our home with a menagerie of rescued and adopted pets. I am a member of University Christian Church in Austin and serve as an elder, worship chair, and choir member. In my professional life, I am a psychotherapist in private practice and enjoy helping people to be in healthier and more congruent relationships with self and others. I enjoy time with my grown kids, remodeling and garden projects, travel, reading, and finding various creative outlets in my (limited) spare time.

Why did you say “yes” to the NBA Board of Trustees?

My family has had a direct association with the NBA for nearly 45 years. My father was an administrator for Thomas Campbell Christian Center in Pennsylvania, and my parents retired to Lenoir Christian Community. After their deaths, it was important to me and my family to continue the legacy of service and care that our parents modeled. Serving on the Board of Trustees is just one way to do that.

The NBA’s vision statement is “creating communities of compassion and care.” What does that mean to you?

“Creating communities of compassion and care” means to me that we are striving to develop partnerships and build relationships that allow us to follow Christ’s example of extending radical hospitality and reconciliation.
