Webinar: Restoration of Voting Rights
Millions of Americans are barred from voting because of criminal convictions in their past. Felony disenfranchisement laws, relics of our Jim Crow past, hit African Americans disproportionately hard. When the election of public officials is so important in shaping the direction of our country, how can we justify the disenfranchisement of a huge segment of our population who have served out their sentences? This webinar will explore the history and current state of voting rights for those convicted of felony offenses. Rev. Dean Bucalos, NBA’s Prison and Jail Ministries Mission Specialist will be joined by Amanda Hall, a legislative advocate for the ACLU of Kentucky whose voting rights were recently restored.
