Cameron Cunningham
Cameron Cunningham is a dedicated clergy, religious educator, and social advocate with a strong commitment to building faith communities and advancing holistic and social equity. Cameron’s work is driven by the belief that faith can serve as a catalyst for creating and nurturing strong unified communities. He brings exceptional dedication and meticulous preparation working at the intersection of faith and mental health as he has collaborated with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), to further enhance his expertise in addressing mental health and substance use disorders within faith communities.
Cameron earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from Morehouse College in 2019, where he engaged in various leadership roles. Cameron continued his academic matriculation at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology, where he earned a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree. While at Candler, he provided leadership to various programs and initiatives highlighting his commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for future leaders. Cameron continues to evolve in his professional work and transformative ministry, he remains committed to effective activism, lifelong learning, and transformational gospel sharing.

I feel “called to care” about the Disciples health and social service ministry because I believe that caring for others is essential to fostering a just and compassionate society. The commitment to addressing disparities and empowering individuals aligns with my passion for promoting health and well-being in our communities.
Who is a hero of yours, and why?
I have a hero and a (s)hero. My hero is Howard Washington Thurman. Through his teachings, I’ve learned the essence of commitment, inspiring me to embrace love and compassion on my journey toward true authenticity. My (s)hero is my grandmother, whose unwavering prayers and moral support guide my actions and values every day.
