Getting to Know Evan
Why do you feel “called to care” about Disciples health and social service ministry?
I am a fifth-generation Disciple, and my call to ministry came from a passion for pastoral care and social justice. As someone who went to seminary with the intention of being a chaplain and having that care be so integral to my call, being part of our denominational health and social services ministry goes straight to the core of my passions. “Called to care” feels like a phrase that is very connective for me to both my own call and the NBA’s vision.
Who is a hero of yours, and why?
My mom is certainly one of my heroes. She is trained as a social worker but has spent my whole life as a stay-at-home mom supporting me and my brother. She is a deeply faithful person and I cannot imagine trying to navigate this world without the care and guidance that she puts into the world.
If I tried to find you in a supermarket, what aisle would you be in?
In the supermarket, you would probably find me at the seafood counter as my family’s south Louisiana roots have instilled in me a love of seafood!
