The JUMPSTART Back-to-School Clinic will provide free school health screenings and sports physicals for school-aged children. Our congregation, First Christian Church of Blue Mound, IL, will work in conjunction with healthcare professionals, the health department, and school personnel to assist at-risk children and families, especially those who are clients of our Interchurch Council Food Pantry. This one-day clinic will be free of charge to participating families. The clinic will include routine height, weight, blood pressure, and heart rate measurements. Physicians and Nurse Practitioners will provide school and sport physicals while a dentist will provide dental exams. Vision screenings and lead assessment screenings will also be offered. Any problem areas identified will be followed through with a referral to the appropriate providers. Copies of all physicals and referrals will be mailed to the child’s Primary Medical Physician, as well as the school the child attends. A Prayer Room will be open with volunteers that can pray with families or answer questions. Bibles and reading resources will also be available. Once families have completed using the clinic, they can join together in the dining hall for a free meal.
