Rev. Dr. Jacque Foster

Rev. Dr. Jacque Foster grew up in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), like the four generations of family before her. It was through the love and support of church community in congregations, church camp, and Regional and General church ministries that she experienced a call to ministry.

After attending Phillips University and Vanderbilt Divinity School, she served in congregations across three regions. Most recently, she was the pastor of Compton Heights Christian Church in St. Louis, Missouri.  In her years of ministry, Jacque has pastored in congregations across three Disciples regions, she’s mentored into ministry dozens of pastors and lay leaders.  And she is an excellent teacher of Disciples History and Thought. After serving more than 25 years at Compton Heights Christian Church in St. Louis, Missouri, she retired in 2021. Her ministerial leadership continues in the many ways that she connects to local churches, regions, and with general ministries such as NBA. 

Jacque finds joy at home with her spouse, Dave Boger, and their menagerie of God’s creatures. Together, they enjoy gardening, reading, and travel to fun places!

Why did you say “yes” to serving on the NBA Board of Trustees?

Over the past several years, I have watched NBA rebuild and renew with passion and creativity. Leaders and staff cast a broad and deep vision that integrates the call to care and the call to justice.

The NBA’s vision statement is “creating communities of compassion and care.” What does that mean to you?

The vision is not one of NBA owning communities. It is rather a vision of incubating, supporting, connecting communities of compassion and care! This is a fresh, forward-looking, cooperative model that encourages creative responses to the needs of God’s people. NBA is calling the whole church to these ministries.
