Directory of Disciples Health & Social Service Ministries
The National Benevolent Association (NBA) connects Disciples health and social service ministries with individuals, communities, churches, and other organizations empowering them to learn, collaborate, and grow stronger together. As we come alongside Disciples-related health and social service ministries, we are a catalyst for advocacy, education, and the support of innovative approaches to addressing justice issues. The NBA affirms that by partnering with ministries, we have what we need to create purposeful change with individuals and communities.

Join Our Network
Ministry partners will be connected through peer and web-based networks and have access to available resources, including: grant opportunities, peer learning opportunities, virtual and face-to-face events, social advocacy alliances, best-practice guidelines, and more. Participation is by choice. A demonstrated connection to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) should be evident.
Demonstrating Disciples-affiliation for a ministry/nonprofit:
- The entity has determined that a percentage of board members must be from the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Ideally, that percentage is incorporated into the entity’s bylaws.
- The entity is founded in partnership with Disciples congregations and/or founded by the NBA.
- The Executive Director/CEO is a member of the CC(DOC) and continues to claim the importance of that relationship to the ministry and its partners and supporters.
The NBA does not expect every ministry/entity to meet all three requirements and this is a flexible conversation whereby we come to a mutual understanding about a ministry/entity being Disciples-affiliated. Most certainly some of these requirements must be met to claim affiliation.
Demonstrating Disciples-affiliation for a congregation:
For the purposes of the work of the NBA, a congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) would be a congregation listed in the most recent Yearbook and Directory for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and is recognized as a congregation in the CC(DOC) Region in which it is located.
