Christian Care Communities is the oldest provider of Older Adult Care related to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). We are Kentucky’s largest faith-based provider of housing, long-term care, adult day centers, and community-based services for older adults. We serve approximately 3,000 individuals and their families throughout Kentucky.  We actively work with churches helping them with older adult ministries.

Resource materials related to our ministries and older adult care can be found at www.christiancarecommunities.org.

Fall 2021 Mission & Ministry Grant

Creating Healthy Memories in Motion

Christian Care Communities is dedicated to the well-being of older adults, families, and staff. The pandemic isolated our seniors like never before and the physical and emotional effects of loneliness and little stimulation have impacted their overall health. Increased anxiety, hypertension, high blood pressure, obesity, heart disease, dementia and life expectancy are all impacted in a negative way by isolation and social engagement. A recognized and documented therapy station to combat these ill effects is the WhisperGLIDE, specifically designed to promote conversation about life, decrease depression, stress, and loneliness, engage family and friends in teachable moments, enhance mood, and overall emotional health, and improve sleep with fewer body aches.

Care and Connect Training Centers

The development of three Care and Connect Training Centers in Western Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, and Central Kentucky will allow Christian Care Communities (CCC) and their Certified Master Trainers to train church groups and other volunteers on the Best Friends Approach to Alzheimer’s treatment and new IN2L technology to support cognition and rehabilitation for seniors.

For over 15 years, CCC has used the Best Friends Approach to Alzheimer’s and dementia care which is an internationally-recognized service and care model for bettering the lives of people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias by equipping families, professionals, and volunteers with the ability to provide care and support. The IN2L program is dedicated to helping older adults realize the full benefits of today’s technology for engagement, cognitive therapy, and interactive recognition exercises.
