Older Adult Ministries
Resources for Individuals, Congregations and Organizations
Welcome to this page for collaboration and expansion of ministries with older adults from the NBA Innovative Conversation Group on Older Adult Ministries!
Since its beginning, NBA has played a major role in creating and sustaining ministries of compassion and care for older adults, and has advocated for the rights and dignity of the elders in our Disciples communities. Today, we continue to carry on that work in new ways by accompanying leaders, congregations, organizational partners, and others whose call is to expand ministry with and for older adults in the 21st Century.
Goals:
Education and Communication: sharing information, worship materials, articles, webinars, workshops, etc. to strengthen ministries and leaders serving older adults and those who care for them.
Justice and Advocacy: offering community organizing strategies and resources on justice issues for congregations and communities advocating for the rights, dignity and humanity of older adults.
Networking: creating intentional connections for mutual dialogue, support and collaboration with leaders and ministries across the DOC and ecumenically.
Silver Chalice Ministry: promoting and administering the expansion of the Ministry throughout the DOC.
Innovation: broadening and deepening positive impacts through presence and programs in vulnerable older adult communities.
