Announcing the 2019 Mission & Ministry Grant Recipients

For the third year of the Mission & Ministry Grants Program, the National Benevolent Association of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is granting a total of $166,200 to 22 Disciples projects and ministries working with older adults and at-risk children and youth.
In June 2017, the NBA announced the launch of this new grant program, making purpose-restricted funds available for distribution through grants to Disciples congregations and health and social service ministries. In 2019, the NBA Grants Committee accepted and evaluated applications through the fall, and grant funds have now been distributed to selected projects.
This year’s grantees are located across 13 Disciples regions. Of the 22 selected projects, thirteen are focused on at-risk children and youth; seven are focused on older adults; and two are intergenerational, serving both communities. Five of these grantees also received Mission & Ministry Grant funds from NBA last year.
“One of the great joys of reading the grant applications is experiencing the passion for ministries of care that exists throughout the church,” says Executive Vice President Rebecca Hale. “That deep care is coupled with innovative approaches to the work which is so heartening and paints a hopeful picture of Disciples’ engagement within their communities.
